Combining video collage experiments with dreamy horror mood, LIMBO is what might happen if David Lynch and Nine Inch Nails collaborated on a shot-on-video horror movie. Written and directed by Tina Krause, the film is very much a 1990s time capsule. So I wanted the design to reflect that. My approach was to treat the cover as if it was an arthouse horror movie from the mid-1990s. I combined vintage photographs from Krause’s collection with one of my all-time favorite typefaces, Onyx — the typeface that was used for Nirvana’s iconic logo.
